This is a beautiful story about the interconnectedness of our world. A child on one side of the world falls asleep to the sound of cricket song – and is connected by all the powers of nature to another child on the other side of the world, who also falls asleep to the song of crickets.

When considering the illustrations, I was especially pleased with the panoramic view presented at the bottom of each page. It further promotes the idea of how many ways we are alike, though the distances between us may be great.

Cricket Song is the newest book by Anne Hunter, though she has written and/or illustrated many others. Learn more about her work at
